Back to the grind
My wonderful long weekend spent in Minnesota was wrapped with a 2 hour/$65 cab ride home to Astoria. Stuck in traffic from 12am-2am on a Monday night/Tuesday morning? Talk about Brooke-ing out.
This will just annoy you.
Only here
Spotted on my way back from grabbing a Diet Coke at the corner bodega:
Shirtless man hanging out his apartment window above the DVD Playground: Specializing in Males shop, puking onto the sidewalk and startling/upsetting passerby.
Luckily I was on the other side of 14th street.
Forgets
This morning I got a text from Kara explaining how she forgot it was her boyfriend’s birthday, so she can’t make it my birthday/Kiley’s going away BBQ at Claire’s house on Saturday. She can come to the after party, though. I called her to get details - I mean, how do you forget your boyfriend’s birthday? They LIVE together. Kara goes: I’m just really excited...
No need to pack a lunch manana because we’ll be breaking bread together as...
– Kristine.
Tomorrow at 10:09am, Molly and I will be arriving in Minneapolis. At 12pm I will be eating lunch with Kristine, Linnea, Claire and Kara (brothers/lovers).
Good morning
I started watching Hell House last night and finished it this morning. Not as terrifying as Jesus Camp, but still terrifying. I’m now relying on my “MOVING!” playlist to get me motivated to start packing my life into big brown boxes.
Bug talk
I just got home from dinner with Cheryl at Nomado 33. It was $3 roll Thursday. Cheapest/tastiest meal, ever. Besides catching up on our week’s activities and sharing a few small world moments, we talked about bugs. After finishing our second filled-to-the-brim glass of pinot, Cheryl screamed (a very serious scream):
What is up with bugs? Why are there bugs? Why do we hate them? And WHY ARE...
Thriday
Today is Thursday, but it’s like my Friday. To celebrate that, among other things, my coworkers and I went out to lunch at Galanga. After getting our bill for our $7 lunch special feasts, we discovered our waitresses name was Pookie Sexy Gal. I wish my new phone had a camera so I could have captured some proof.
On our way back to the office, we ran into Philip Seymour Hoffman and some...
Bad dancing draws suspicion
Kristine just asked me if I remembered the time we were dancing at the Annex and a man pulled us to the side of the dance floor and goes: what are you guys on?!
Of course I remembered. We replied: beer…
She then sent me a link to this article, telling me this is something that could very well happen to us, minus the drugs.
What a headline!
I’m going to have Gus start practicing doga.
– Kristine. Doga? Oh, doga.
Oldies, not goodies
A few years ago I decided I was going to train for the marathon, so I bought some nice running shoes. Then I broke my toe and turned 21. That training was short lived.
A few months ago while stretching before rebounding, I noticed two little holes in my shoes. My baby toes could just pop right out. I shrugged it off until my knees started hurting and instead of correlating it with too much jump...
Look-alike
Last night on my way home from work, I sat across from two teenage girls on the N train. They were talking to one another and staring at me. Naturally, I paused my Ting Tings to hear how bad they were judging me. The moment I did this, one of the girls flapped her arm in the air signaling my attention. You look exactly like Natalie Maines! We thought you were her - that’s why we were staring...
Friday Fun Day
I’m laying in bed with a huge mug of coffee and season four (best season) of Sex And The City. It’s 12:15pm. I just ordered Indian food for lunch. Maybe in an hour or two I’ll hit the gym. That’s a maybe. At 4pm, I’ll hop on the N train and make my way to Park Slope to meet Nora. We’ll get wine, cheese, and maybe some olives. At 7pm we’ll be eating our...
I just got this email from Northwest Airlines:
Reservation Summary
Traveler Hannah G. Jensen

I could not be happier.
So tonight we were locked in an actual marina. I climbed out but Leslie waited...

Evelyiener Wiener
My little sister Evelyn Rose has spent the past few days in New York after some intense United Nations work in North Carolina. She had a huge chunk of free time today, so I volunteered to be “on call”. I was told to meet her at The Met around noon. Of course, because we’re so related, I walked into The Met gift shop at quarter to noon and literally ran into her in front of stacks...
New cellular
I just paid $80 for this phone.
I am currently weeping in my bed.
Lost, but not found.
Last night I left (I think) my cellular in Healthalicious. I’m still unsure as to why/how I ended up in the store at 2am, but it happened. The store isn’t open today so all I can do is cross my fingers. Thank gosh I have a blackberry.
Email me your numbers, just in case it’s really gone forever.
Miss Independent
A year ago this weekend, I was in Minneapolis. Adventures from that first week in July 2007 are best summarized here and here. I just read them and smiled. Maybe you will, too.
On July 3, 2007, my mom and I drove through the rain to Cannon Falls in the early afternoon. Upon arriving at the Jensen/Sigmeth residence, wine was poured, Wendy’s cold pasta was consumed, and talk of Hannah and my...
