A year ago this weekend, I was in Minneapolis. Adventures from that first week in July 2007 are best summarized here and here. I just read them and smiled. Maybe you will, too.
On July 3, 2007, my mom and I drove through the rain to Cannon Falls in the early afternoon. Upon arriving at the Jensen/Sigmeth residence, wine was poured, Wendy’s cold pasta was consumed, and talk of Hannah and my future was discussed in lengthy detail. All future plans were based on the idea that Hannah would move to NYC after graduation. And as you know, Hannah graduated and our plans are coming to fruition.
This year’s 4th of July, I will celebrate my independence, independently. While everyone leaves NYC for the Hamptons, Washington DC, Hilton Head, Boston and Virginia Beach, here I will stay. I will figure out how to tackle the other future plans Wendy, my mother, Hannah, Kitty and I discussed a year ago today…
I will also start cleaning out my apartment, do 1 month’s worth of laundry, lay in the park, finish up some work, read, and (I saved the best for last) see/hug/chat/love baby sister Evelyn in between her scheduled NYC sight-seeing activities (she’s here with her United Nations team for the weekend).
Happy fourth, friends!
