Alec was supported by openers Ezra Furman and the Harpoons, a foursome of whip-smart boys from Tufts U. Perhaps not coincidentally, Ezra careens with affected vocals similar to Alec O.’s tried-and-true stylings. At one point Ezra received and then sported hot pink sunglasses from a fanatic near the stage who displayed a terrific sense of timing, as this interchange followed immediately after the group’s most captivating and energetic tune, “Take Off Your Sunglasses”. MC wanted to corral guitarist and back-up vocalist Jahn Sood after their set for a quality, platonic hug and exclaim, “you’re my little Indian bear!” — instead she gave him a Michelle-Tanner-Thumbs-Up and said “I like you.” He accepted the compliment with a nod/smile and awkward pause for follow-up convo with MC which she was not interested in initiating.
